Happy October!

October is one of my favorite months of the year and even though I'd like to celebrate most things odd and strange and scary and fantastic, it's more important to have a moment and remember that Sudan has been suffering from the effects of war since April 2023, Democratic Republic of Congo is still suffering under slavery, Palestine has been bombed nearly every day for almost three hundred and sixty five days, Lebanon has been bombed by Israel--killing seven hundred people in one day, and people are still recovering from Hurricane Helene.

Before I share early month updates, I'd like to remind y'all that you can donate to people in Sudan here, donate to people in the Democratic Republic of the Congo here, the people in Palestine and West Bank here, an an an article including places to donate in order to support Lebanon here, and a campaign to help those affected by Hurricane Helene here and here.

I would also like to take a minute to honor Tinu Abayomi-Paul, an extremely kind, compassionate, and dedicated black woman who gave so much of herself and her work to the disability justice community. Already dealing with Long COVID and ME/CFS, Tinu's cancer resurfaced after being diagnosed with COVID (she had to raise funds for treatment month to month), she passed away last week. I love Tinu so much and I don't have words for what this is doing to me nor to the community she is so important to. If you are able, please donate so that her family can cover her funeral costs and continue to donate to others' mutual aid requests to honor the work she did for so many of us. You can see some of the work she did and links to other spaces at her Ko-Fi and use the hashtag #ForTinu if you share the fundraiser on socials.

As Tinu wrote, "if you would wear a ribbon for a cancer patient, you should be wearing a mask for everyone." Please wear your masks.

Thank you for caring and please keep fighting.
